Fullstack Engineer

Menlo Park, CAFull Time$110k - $150k per year

About Clair

Clair Health is building the first wearable for hormone-aware health. Clair is a wrist-worn band and app that tracks reproductive hormones noninvasively, alongside sleep, recovery, heart rate, HRV and activity. Our models are trained against hormone measurements, so women can see their cycle as it actually unfolds instead of as a calendar guess. Founding Member reservations are open and devices ship in January 2027. We're a small team in Menlo Park, backed by Khosla Ventures and a16z speedrun.

About the role

This is a role for someone who wants to own whole features and see real people use them. You will join our engineering team on Clair's iOS and Android app, the APIs behind it, and the internal tools the company runs on. Your time will split roughly evenly between the app and the backend. You will take features from spec to the App Store, then watch how they behave once members use them. You will work closely with the other engineers and directly with the founders, and what you ship will be in the hands of thousands of women at launch.

What you'll do

Mobile app

  • Build features in our cross-platform mobile app (TypeScript): cycle tracking, daily check-ins, health insights, onboarding and subscriptions.
  • Work on the parts that make a hardware companion app hard: Bluetooth pairing and sync with the band, phone health-platform integrations, offline-first data, background work and notifications.
  • Drop into native iOS and Android code when the cross-platform layer isn't enough.
  • Build conversational features, including voice and chat with Clair's AI agent.

Backend and APIs

  • Design and build the APIs, data models and background jobs behind the app.
  • Own the data for cycles, symptoms, devices, orders and member health, and the migrations that change it safely.
  • Connect the app to our ML services, so biomarkers and hormone insights reach members reliably.
  • Build integrations with partners and third-party services, and keep them dependable.

Internal tools and quality

  • Build the internal tools our team uses to support members and understand how the product is used.
  • Write tests, and use error tracking and logs to catch problems before members report them. Ship through CI/CD to staging and production.
  • Treat health data with care: no personal health data in logs, sensible access controls, and privacy built in from the start.

Who you are

  • 2 to 5 years building production software in TypeScript, across both a mobile or web frontend and a backend.
  • You've shipped a mobile app to the App Store or Google Play and supported it after launch.
  • You've designed APIs and data models on a relational database and know your way around migrations.
  • You can read and debug native iOS or Android code when a library breaks.
  • You take a feature from a rough idea to production without needing a detailed ticket, and you ask good questions along the way.
  • You care about getting details right in a product people trust with their health data.
  • You want to work in person with a small team in Menlo Park.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Bluetooth or hardware-connected apps.
  • Integrations with phone health platforms.
  • Offline-first mobile data and sync.
  • Real-time audio or voice features, or products built on LLMs.
  • Work with health data or in another regulated industry.
  • Interest in women's health.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and meaningful early equity
  • Health, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Catered team lunches
  • A Clair device once it ships
  • Direct work with the founders and real ownership of what you build
