About Ornn
Ornn is building the financial infrastructure for AI compute. Our price indices are live on Bloomberg Terminal. We structure and trade compute hedging instruments. And we're now building a platform that brings exchange-grade mechanics like order management, matching, scheduling, and settlement to how compute capacity gets reserved and allocated. We're a lean team in New York, backed by leading venture and strategic investors.
About the Role
Ornn is growing quickly, and we're looking for a Head of Talent to help us find and hire the best people to build what's next. You'll own recruiting from the first conversation through the offer, while putting the processes in place to help a lean team hire thoughtfully and move fast.
This is a hands-on role for someone who has recruited at a fast-growing startup and likes being close to the work. You'll partner directly with leadership on hiring priorities, attract exceptional candidates, and make sure every candidate and interviewer has a strong experience.
What You'll Do
Own hiring pipelines across engineering, markets, go-to-market and operations, from sourcing and outreach through interviews, offers and closing.
Build talent attraction strategies that get exceptional people interested in Ornn, including proactive sourcing, referrals, employer branding and candidate outreach.
Partner with leadership and hiring managers on headcount planning, hiring priorities, role requirements and recruiting timelines.
Run recruiting events and other opportunities to introduce Ornn to high-caliber talent.
Build consistent interview processes, train interviewers, improve scorecards and keep hiring decisions well calibrated.
Own talent reporting, including pipeline health, conversion rates, time to hire, source effectiveness and progress against headcount plans.
Keep candidates informed and engaged while making sure hiring managers have the information they need to make decisions quickly.
Improve recruiting tools, workflows and processes as the team grows, without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.
Requirements
At least 4 years of professional experience in recruiting or talent acquisition.
Experience recruiting at a fast-growing startup, with a track record of hiring in a fast-moving environment.
Strong full-cycle recruiting skills, including proactive sourcing, candidate assessment, stakeholder management and closing.
Able to manage multiple searches, keep pipelines organized and follow through without constant direction.
Comfortable working directly with founders and hiring managers, pushing for clarity and making sound judgment calls.
Data-driven and able to turn recruiting metrics into practical improvements.
Clear, thoughtful communicator who cares about candidate experience and represents the company well.
Based in New York and able to work in person at our office.
Nice-to-Haves
Familiarity with Ashby.
Experience recruiting software engineers, infrastructure talent or other hard-to-hire technical profiles.
Experience building recruiting events, referral programs or employer-brand initiatives.
Experience introducing interviewer training, headcount reporting or hiring processes at an early-stage company.
Why This Role Matters
We're building infrastructure for a market that is still taking shape, and the people we hire now will define what Ornn becomes. As our team grows, hiring cannot be something everyone squeezes in between their day jobs. This role makes sure we're reaching the right people, assessing them well, and moving quickly enough to bring them on board. You'll help build the team and the recruiting foundation that lets Ornn scale without lowering the bar.
Compensation and Benefits
Benefits include competitive salary, meaningful equity, health coverage, free meals, and additional benefits. This is an early role with significant impact and equity upside.
Equal Opportunity Statement
Ornn is committed to building a diverse team. We evaluate candidates based on their ability to do the work, not on pedigree or background. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.
