The a16z speedrun talent team is hiring a Product Engineer. a16z speedrun invests up to $1M in new startups and backs them with customers and talent. We're the talent part: we help speedrun founders build their early teams, the first engineers, designers, and operators.
What We've Built
We run a jobs board, signup and profiles, salary and layoff tools, job hunting sux (a newsletter on Substack), and an MCP server for AI agents. There are also the tools speedrun founders use to hire from the network, and you'd work on those too.
The Role
You'd own the products candidates and founders use, end to end: from the idea and the design to shipping and deploying it. It's a contract role, and students and co-ops are welcome. You could start full-time now, join for spring 2027 (a co-op or a semester off) or summer 2027, or work part-time during the school year.
Who We're Looking For
One person who can take an idea all the way to a live product.
- Product. You can spot what's broken for job seekers and decide what's worth building.
- Design. You have taste, and what you make looks and feels right.
- Ship. You get it live, deployment included, using AI tools to move fast.
- Lived it. You've been a job seeker recently and know the pain firsthand.
No specific tech stack required. Recruiting experience is neither necessary nor preferred.
