Behind every API call is compute, and we are rapidly expanding our own footprint: data centers, colocation, GPU capacity and the hardware inside it. These are some of the largest and most consequential contracts the company signs. We're hiring our first dedicated infrastructure lawyer to own them.
You'll be the legal partner to our compute, data center and infrastructure teams. You'll negotiate deals worth tens to hundreds of millions of dollars, bring work in-house that currently goes to outside counsel, and build the playbooks we'll scale on.
What you'll do
Own hardware purchase and supply agreements for GPUs, servers, racks, networking and related equipment, including warranties, delivery, allocation of risk, and vendor financing terms.
Lead negotiation of GPU capacity agreements with neoclouds, hyperscalers and traditional cloud providers, including commitment structures, pricing, SLAs and associated credits, delivery timelines, and liability caps.
Support GPU-side referral, reseller and partnership agreements, and partner with our commercial counsel on sell-side compute terms.
Work day to day with capacity planning, sourcing, site acquisition and finance, so legal moves at the speed of the build-out.
Bring outside counsel work in-house. Where we still use firms, manage them tightly on cost and turnaround.
Build templates, negotiation playbooks and fallback positions for infrastructure agreements, and help shape how these deals are approved and tracked.
What you bring
5+ years of commercial legal experience, with meaningful time in-house or at a firm serving infrastructure clients.
Recent, hands-on experience negotiating compute infrastructure deals: GPU or cloud capacity, data center or colocation, and hardware procurement. That experience might come from a hyperscaler, neocloud, AI lab, semiconductor or data center company.
Fluency in the terms that matter here: capacity commitments, take-or-pay and minimum spend, SLAs and credits, power and real estate provisions, supply and delivery risk, and limitation of liability.
Comfort running several high-value, time-sensitive negotiations at once with little process around you.
Sound business judgment. You frame risk as "yes, and here's the exposure" and help the business make the call.
Active bar membership in good standing (California preferred or able to register as in-house counsel).
Nice to have
Real estate, energy or power procurement experience.
Exposure to export controls, trade compliance or international supply chains.
Experience building a function or playbooks from scratch at a high-growth company.
