The role:
We're hiring a Senior Process Engineer to bring deep, practicing process engineering expertise into our product. You'll pair years of hands-on plant design experience (heat and material balances, PFDs and P&IDs, emissions control, equipment sizing, etc) with product development, turning how an excellent process engineer thinks, checks, and makes judgment calls into capabilities within our automated design engine product, where we leverage AI to automate every step of the engineering design process to produce end construction design deliverables for large scale capital projects such as natural gas power generation and beyond.
This role is in-person in San Francisco, CA.
What we're looking for:
Owned the process design of gas power, industrial plants, chemical production, polymer synthesis, or similar, end to end
T-shaped technical excellence: broad understanding of how process connects to adjacent disciplines and the implications of trade-offs across them, while also having deep expertise in 1-2 areas
Evidence of strong first principles thinking: someone who has challenged "this is how we've always done it" syndrome
Excitement to work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, and embrace extreme ownership
The ability to prioritize impact by ruthlessly finding the bottlenecks and solving the most important problems
Hands-on engineers who can speak to the excruciating minutia and details of their work (the calc, the edge case, the reviewer comment that changed the design), and are excited to execute instead of manage/organize others' work
Mission alignment and desire to build a future of abundance
Experience: Senior. Significant hands-on process design experience at an engineering firm or owner; PE preferred.
Bonus:
Experience with utility scale natural gas power generation plant design
Experience building your own simulation, calculation, or analysis software tools or other applications. A large part of this role is turning your engineering knowledge into scalable software; even if you’ve barely written software before, you’ll leverage recent advancements in AI coding agents to assist you in building these tools
Experience with AI coding agent tools (Codex, Claude Code, etc) for work or personal uses
